…old school TV…
…is it just me or does every time someone says the number ‘227’ (that’s, two two seven), does anyone else’s mind go directly to Marla Gibbs and Jackee??… (the same way I think Dwayne Wayne pioneered the round rim glasses WAY before Harry Potter…)…just a thought…
I wanted to watch the “Black In Latin America” series and I discovered this YouTube channel that has over 30 black documentaries in full.
Shouts to njdirtygardener.
thank you for this info…needed reblogging

Spike Lee’s movies from the 90’s reminds me of when black people had a message to give to each other. A message of hope, love, togetherness and support. It makes me sad to think of the ‘message’ that we are putting out there for our children now…we have gone from stories teaching a lesson in hip hop and ‘black’ movies to valuing monetary gain and stereotypes because that is what ‘sells’…wake up…please, wake up…
Love
…question…better yet just quest…
…what exactly does being black entail? I am sure that there is a lot some might say is included in answering that question but I prefer the simple answer…being black is just being of African decent…that’s it…simple…what do y’all think? just wondering…
NO ONE asks.. “Why is there a Philosophy Department?”… “Why is there a History Department?” … “Why is there a Sociology Department?”
They don’t ask those questions because they don’t even realize that they’re studying [White] philosophy… [White] history…. [White]…
…just like those that have to ask why there is a Black History month…while I believe, along with many others I am sure, that African Americans are and always will be a huge part of American history the actual amount that the common American has knowlege of is small…so I see the reason, and more so, the need, for just one month, (the shortest month of the year mind you), to enlighten those that might not be aware of African American’s impact on the face of this nation…those who do not know the difference between ‘everyday’ history and ‘black’ history are either ignorant or oblivious…either way the old addage applies, ‘If you have to ask…’…love…

…yeah, THEIR blacks…
…I have come to the conclusion that I will NEVER understand an African American or Black Republican…I just don’t get it…we, as a race in this country, have fought tooth and nail for equal rights, as did women for that matter, and to support a political party that only wants to supress another group of people, a party that does not believe in helping their fellow man in times of need a party that clearly has its own interests inmind and NOT the country as a whole is just insane…black people have made their way in this country by helping each other to get as much as we have today…our people have only had equal rights in this country for a little over 50 years or so and already you forget and turn your back on others that are struggling?? why?? Christian issues?? well that represents SOME of this nation, unfortunately not all…so that means that if you don’t go to church you are unworthy of a helping hand…I just don’t get it?? what, now you have money and want to horde it?? we, black people, should be enormously proud that a like skinned man and women have made it into the White House, we should be supporting the advancement of our race and not supporting a party that obviously does not…come on…really?? Black Republican?? WTF is that??
…has been called, “One of the most brilliant, articulate and courageous critics of white privilege in the nation,” by best-selling author and professor Michael Eric Dyson…
…strange that a white man get this stuff…love how this man’s mind works…
“Imagine that hundreds of black protesters were to descend upon Washington DC and Northern Virginia, just a few miles from the Capitol and White House, armed with AK-47s, assorted handguns, and ammunition. And imagine that some of these protesters —the black protesters — spoke of the need for political revolution, and possibly even armed conflict in the event that laws they didn’t like were enforced by the government? Would these protester — these black protesters with guns — be seen as brave defenders of the Second Amendment, or would they be viewed by most whites as a danger to the republic? What if they were Arab-Americans? Because, after all, that’s what happened recently when white gun enthusiasts descended upon the nation’s capital, arms in hand, and verbally announced their readiness to make war on the country’s political leaders if the need arose.”
I cannot believe that I am JUST getting to read this from about two years ago…SOO freaking true and I know that every single black person has thought this already…
What if the Tea Party was Black? (by jasirix)
LYRICS
What if the tea party was black
Holding guns like the Black Panther Party was back
If Al was Rush Limbaugh and Jesse was Sean Hannity
And Tavis was Glenn Beck would you harm they families
If Sarah Palin was suddenly Sistah Souljah
Would you leave it to the voters or go and get the soldiers
Yall know if the tea party was black
The government would have been had the army attack
What if Michael Baisden was on ya FM dial
For 3 hours every day calling the president foul
Would they say free speech or find evidence how
To charge him with treason like see he’s unamerican now
What if Minister Farrakhan prayed for the death
Of the commander in chief that he be laid to rest
Would they treat it as the gravest threat or never make an arrest
Even today he’s still hated for less
What if President Obama would have lost the election
Quit his job so he could go talk to the left and
Bash the government for being off of direction
Fraught with deception
And told black people they want all of our weapons
And we want our own country and called for secession
Would he be arrested and tossed in corrections
For trying to foster aggression
Against the people’s lawful selection
Our questions
What if the tea party was black
Holding guns like the Black Panther Party was back
If Al was Rush Limbaugh and Jesse was Sean Hannity
And Tavis was Glenn Beck would you harm they families
If Sarah Palin was suddenly Sistah Souljah
Would you leave it to the voters or go and get the soldiers
Yall know if the tea party was black
The government would have been had the army attack
What If black people went on Facebook and made a page
That for the death of the president elect we prayed
Would the creators be tazed and thrown in a cage
We know the page wouldn’t have been displayed all these days
What if Jeremiah Wright said that everybody white
Wasn’t a real Americna would you feel scared of him
If he had a militia with pictures that depict the president as Hitler
They would kill and bury that
Wait
What if Cynthia McKinney lamented the winning of the new president
And hinted he wasn’t really a true resident
With no proof or evidence
Would the media treat it like a huge press event
They would have attacked whatever group she represents
They would have called her a kook on precedent
And any network that gave her due preference
Would be the laughing stock of the news so our question is
What if the tea party was black
Holding guns like the Black Panther Party was back
If Al was Rush Limbaugh and Jesse was Sean Hannity
And Tavis was Glenn Beck would you harm they families
If Sarah Palin was suddenly Sistah Souljah
Would you leave it to the voters or go and get the soldiers
Yall know if the tea party was black
The government would have been had the army attack
…the word…
…I realize that its a novelty to some, mostly those that are not ‘black’, but it kind of pains me to hear or see a group of well educated ‘black’ people use the ‘word’, (we all know what it is), just because it feels like it is a part of their ‘blackness’…as if not using the word makes you less ‘black’…you have a pretty extensive vocab so why that word?…and why every other word at that?…just wondering…also, to clarify, I am not saying that the word offends me…not in the least…not even in a derogatory statement…if used that way its just ignorance and I feel sorry for those kind of people…I just believe that there are much better words to use…just sayin’…

…being…black…
…I have lived in my skin for a long time now. so I realize what color it is and what social stigmas it brings without any sort of effort and additives from me. my skin alone has shown me from looks, reactions and converstaions from other people that I pass, just randomly, in daily life that I am different…the most disturbing part about living in this skin, which I love, is the continued thought from within my own same skinned community that I am, similarly, different from them as well…so what exactly is “being black”? what does it consist of? must I speak in slang and forget all of my education that I worked so hard for? is there a certain brand or style of clothing that would make me more ‘Afrocentric’? is there certain music, that I don’t already listen to, that would help me become more ‘black’?…I often hear the phrase ‘…you are the whitest black person I know…’, said in jest of course. I laugh it off, of course, but I still find myself confused. I do ‘understand’, somewhat, why someone might say something like that but I still fail to truly, completely, comprehend the meaning…I listen to and love my ‘black’ music…while I admit I do not adhere to the clothing style adopted my a majority of ‘my’ community, I still feel like the whole idea of individuality has lost its place…educated, proper grammar using, ‘well spoken’ men and women like myself are looked upon by some, maybe a lot more than I like to think, within the community as out casts…’sell outs’…my question is why? if you want to get all stereotypical about it I still love my chicken, any way I can get it…not the pork though…I love my mothers cornbread and macaroni and cheese…I ride around pumping ‘hard core’ dirty south rap often…just not loud enough every one on the street to hear…I love basketball…not so much of a football fan as I am just a Cowboys fan…I have had this idea with me for a long time…I never really adopted the lingo that a lot of my friends had…I chose, instead to adapt to what the world ahead of me had in store…I had to make myself feel like I could communicate to any and every one that heard me or chose to listen…not just the ‘black’ community and because I can communicate with efficiency, articulate correctly and my vocabulary is a bit more extensive than most I know I am ‘frowned upon’…no, they don’t have to say it to my face but when people meet people like the ones I am referring to, we know it…I am not better than anyone I know, I KNOW this. I would never, ever, try to say that I am…although I am sure there are some out there that would say that they are because of social status and upbringing, but I know that I am not…those that know me, that have taken time to get to know me, know that no matter my ‘diction’ no matter what words I use to describe myself, which is usually ‘black’, first and foremost I am a human being, an American and a man…all other modifiers are meaningless to me…call me what you will, but I prefer, before you judge, call me by my name…Jowal, Jo for short, the man…
thank you….back to work I go…
